Monday, February 27th, 2012

We’d like to share the following information with all those who are interested in education and in particular in the Metuchen Schools:

  • Superintendent Vincent Caputo is hosting a Forum for the public on this Tuesday, February 28 at 7:30 PM in the Metuchen High School cafeteria. The program will begin with a coffee reception, followed by a presentation at 7:45 PM by Mr. Caputo about his plans for the District. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session with the audience.
  • At their last meeting, the Board of Education voted on the recommendation of the Superintendent to hire Mr. Richard Cohen as Director of Curriculum for the District and Principal of Moss School.  Mr. Cohen has 15 years of educational experience, most recently as a principal in Red Bank.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in Educational Theory, Policy, and Administration from Rutgers.
  • And finally, this week CQE launches its annual Voter Registration Drive and Absentee Ballot Campaign. For nearly 25 years, Citizens for Quality Education has worked to pass school budgets in Metuchen.  During the month of March, the organization runs both a Voter Registration Drive and an Absentee Ballot Campaign. CQE encourages all Metuchen citizens to vote in the School Board Elections, which will be held this year on April 17.  Please see our Website ( for important dates, information and forms to fill out to register to vote and to apply for an absentee ballot application.  In addition, CQE representatives will be at the Metuchen High School cafeteria during lunch periods on Thursday March 1 and Thursday March 8 to register all interested students who will be 18 years old on or before April 17. Students will need either their NJ Driver’s License number or the last four digits of their Social Security number to complete the registration form.  If you have any questions, please contact us at
